In Family Life (Spring 2001), Hugo played Brett in Minna and the Space People and directed Transmogrification and Mom and the Razor Blades.

He played Felix in The Owl and the Pussycat (Spring 2003), Peter in Absence and Charles Pooter, Box and Mr White in the Victorian At Home with the Pooters (Autumn 2004).

Further credits with Freerange include playing John in Mamet's Oleanna (for which he was voted Best Actor at Buxton Fringe 2006) and directing Spoonface Steinberg.
