How do you commission writers? Usually the Artistic Director will see a play or have read a script that is of interest. We take a proactive approach to meeting and working with new writers, making it our business to see performances, particularly in the Midlands and North West of England. It may not always be possible to attend, but please let us know when your work is being performed.
Do you accept unsolicited scripts? Freerange will accept unsolicited scripts however please note that scripts may not be read for several weeks and should always be accompanied with self addressed postage should you wish them to be returned. Scripts must be in hard copy only and sent to: Scripts, Freerange Theatre Company, 2 Flash Lane, Hales, Staffordshire, TF9 2PU.
Where do you rehearse and how often? Rehearsals for our tours are usually for 3 full time weeks. We rehearse when we are creating new work and also to workshop ideas for future productions.
I am an actor, keen to work with Freerange, how should I approach you? There are different approaches that we take to casting, depending on the roles to be filled. We try and see as much work as possible throughout the year, and will approach someone directly or via their agent if they may be ideal for a particular role. We also work with casting directors, advertise in The Stage, PCR and talk to other companies. CVs and headshots can be sent to email@example.com for file, although responding to specific casting breakdowns is our preferred route.

Do you offer work placements? Freerange has on-going relationships with several universities and centres of further education that specialise in the arts. If you are interested in a placement on an upcoming tour contact firstname.lastname@example.org or use the contact form on this website. We do offer a limited number of work placements. These are usually production-based placements only. If you feel you could benefit from a work placement and are serious about your ability to volunteer, it can be a great opportunity to learn, develop your skills and meet new people. The best thing is to send us a letter outlining your interests, experience and the reasons you feel working with Freerange would benefit you and assist us. We are unable to consider all requests as there is often a high demand.
