Freerange is privileged to have been given the rights to tell this most personal of stories.
David Hansen, an American actor and playwright endured, with his wife, the stillbirth of their son. I Hate This tells their story from David's perspective from the 36 hrs before the birth and through the year that followed.
David performed the play himself both in the USA and in the UK to great acclaim and we are delighted that he has given us the opportunity, ten years later, to retell his story.
John Dayton will be performing the piece at The Lowry, Manchester as a contribution to the National Baby Loss Awareness Week.
John Dayton garners a wonderful review for his portrayal of David Hansen at the Lowry
Dayton explores this grief fearlessly, without pander
Dayton’s approach was straightforward but not heavy, which allowed light and shade of allowing the audience to enjoy the humour as well as understand the possibility of humour being used as a coping mechanism.
sincere and powerful
