| Winter/Spring 2007 Spoonface Steinberg at Buxton Opera House At times hilarious and at times poignant, this production can be seen in the Opera House's 'Paupers' Pit' studio theatre from 1st to 3rd March 2007. Oleanna one of our most popular productions was performed to a specally invited audience in Lancaster prior to being taken to Buxton for a performance before a guest audience. |
| October 2006 Projects Hugo and Ellie from Lancaster University are working on the creation of a 'flat-pack' theatre. This will be unique to Freerange and will provide the company and our audiences with the perfect purpose built and hi-tech portable theatre space. We are currently planning our first national tour. | September 2006 Friends of Freerange Everybody needs friends, none more so than theatre companies like ours. Of course, we have many friends amongst our audiences, but we are now looking to establishing a core of supporters who would be willing to make a modest annual contribution to assist with the production and staging of shows. With funding for tours becoming harder and harder to attract we need all the help we can get. More soon ... |
| August 2006 Awards We are delighted to announce the award of two accolades from the Buxton Fringe Festival 2006. Our production of Oleanna was voted Best Drama Production of the festival and Hugo Chandor was voted Best Actor. Lucy Gradwell (playing Carol) also received a nomination for Best Actor. |
| July2006 Oleanna and the Winter Gardens, Morecambe The second Oleanna tour of the year began and was very well received by audiences. The start of the tour was marred by the insistence of Lancaster City Council that a licence was required for the charity performance in Morecambe Winter Gardens (The Victoria Pavilion). We were threatened with legal action if the play went ahead either in the building or on the pavement outside, also owned by the theatre. It was interesting to watch the police cars cruising past, ready to leap upon the villainous actors! Press releases were handed out at the time and one of the interesting effects was that the number of visitors to The Winter Gardens the following Sunday rose considerably, there is clearly great support amongst the general public for the re-awakening of this fine building, not only as an architectural entity but as a living, breathing, home for the arts in Morecambe. However, back to the play. We are pleased to have been invited to a wide range of venues covering 4 counties, Cumbria, Lancashire, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire. Freerange is spreading its wings! |
