The 'Wheels of Change' project was the brainchild of Wren Chapman, co-founder of Freerange Theatre Company. Many of the oldest residents in Lancashire and Cumbria were invited to share their childhood memories, with particular interest in lifestyle, ritual and their day to day routine. A picture developed of a different era. Children in aprons and clogs, walks to school by lamplight, stories of mines and maypoles.
